Sugar Loaf & Warwick

SSugar Loaf is a hamlet with a population of about 20,000 people. It is a community of creative craftspeople and artists nestled under Sugar Loaf Mountain in picturesque Warwick Valley, Orange County, New York. Surrounded by apple orchards and horse farms, this sleepy little village was transformed into a thriving crafts center in the 1970s by the hard work of a handful of dedicated artisans. Today, Sugar Loaf remains true to its heritage as the year round home of over fifty independent businesses. Many of these artisans live and work in the original barns and buildings which date back to the 1700’s. There are farmers markets each Saturday in the summer and The Lycian Centre is a 700 seat performing arts theatre that boasts productions year round.

SSugar Loaf is a unique shopping village where you will find everything from specialty and gift shops to pottery, art and photography studios. Geographically Sugar Loaf is near the center of Orange County and only 50 miles from NYC. Sugar Loaf proudly boasts being only 7 miles away from downtown Warwick, a rapidly growing community — with a population of over 30,000 — whose rural charm and character remains. While farming, dairy, produce and orchards are still important, a significant portion of residents commute to work in New York City and/or its nearby environs and are able to enjoy the downtown village shops as well as restaurants and night life.

WWarwick’s natural beauty is found not just in its rich farmland, but in its lakes, mountains and scenic country roads as well. The town borders the aforementioned "arts & crafts village" of Sugar Loaf to the north and Vernon, NJ to the south. Outdoor life includes hiking, golfing, skiing, boating, fishing, cycling, equestrian facilities and much more. There are farmers’ markets, wineries, antiques and crafts dotted throughout the town, and Warwick hosts the annual “Applefest” each October in celebration of the local apple harvest.
